Lewandowski’s Age Factor is Affecting His Game

Age plays a major role in footballers’ performance and both these are inversely proportional. As a player ages his performance level decreases. Despite Lewandowski being one of the fittest players in world football, his performance speaks for itself. You just cannot help it.

As Lewandowski has entered his mid-30s, the most noticeable change in his game is his declining pace and physicality. He is still lethal with his finishing, his ability to control the ball and beat defenders has diminished. This has made it harder for him to create space and convert chances.

Lewandowski’s Struggles against Low-Block Teams

Modern football is completely different, with defenders being more fast and physical. In La Liga, most teams prefer to play low-block against Barcelona. This tactic makes Lewandowski completely useless. Lewandowski barely gets an opportunity at goal against these teams, he neither runs in behind lines nor is free in the box.
