Ansu Fati, who was once a household name for Barcelona fans due to his spark, finds himself at a critical juncture at this time of his career. As the club is suffering from financial constraints and squad adjustments, questions arise on the youngster’s future.

Fati’s career took a big dip after he suffered an injury against Real Betis. He tore his meniscus. This injury led him to be on the sidelines for almost a year. Despite multiple surgeries, his recovery was slow and challenging. Fati struggled to regain his form and consistency. He suffered multiple injuries later, and this affected his game confidence.

Jorge Mendes on Fati’s future

Mendes was asked about Fat’s future, whether he will make a move this winter or next summer, following his situation at the club.

Mendes answered to Mundo Deportivo: “These are questions for Barça. Barça knows best what plans they have and what the coach thinks. In the world of football, everything changes in five minutes,” he said.

“You have to wait and see. He has shown that he had the courage to play for Barça and that he had an impressive level. What Ansu needs is confidence and to solve his problems. And when he is at his best, Barça will need him.”

Injuries have been a pivotal point in Fati’s career, but Mendes believes the youngster will be back.

“Two years ago he was at the top of the world, and he has had some real bad luck. I hope that he will soon be able to overcome all these adversities, which he will surely do, because he is a great player; he will be back to his level,” he added.

“He is a great player who unfortunately has been punished by injuries, but he is a player who has won the hearts of the Barça fans.”

Does Hansi Flick trust Fati?

Flick has shown his confidence in the youngster, despite Fati’s ongoing struggles. This season Ansu appeared in 7 games, a major part coming off the bench.

Flick remains adamant about unlocking the best version out of Ansu Fati. Reports from AS reveal that Flick played a pivotal role in keeping Fati at the club last summer.

In my opinion, Fati still has the game in him that he used to show; he just lacks the confidence in the attack. He needs more time to work on himself and be back. When he regains his form and momentum, there will be no stopping. His comeback is still pending, and I am eagerly waiting for him to be back.
