Barca Battles La Liga in Court Over Player Registrations

Football club Barcelona has officially filed a law suit against La Liga. A hearing was held in the commercial court No. 10 of Barcelona on December 23, with a final ruling expected by December 27. During a Christmas Lunch, Joan Laporta revealed that Barca will use a legal argument similar to the one employed for Pablo Gavi’s registration. The argument is that if La Liga blocks these registrations, it would violate the players’ right to work.

The disagreement exists due to the FPP (Financial Fair Play) Rules. FPP rules basically ensure that football clubs do not spend more than they earn. This is known as the 1:1 rule.
