Barcelona were going to face Osasuna on match-day 27 in La Liga on 8th March. But due to the unfortunate death of Barcelona’s first team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia who passed away just hours before the game, the game was postponed. La Liga has set a new date for the game, which clashes with Barcelona’s schedule here is why.
The New Date And The Problem
La Liga and Osasuna have decided the game will be played on 27th March. Barcelona does not agree with the proposed dates, here is why.
The international break has commenced from today and will be ending on 26th March, the day before the game. Likes of Raphinha and Araujo will be absent and others won’t get enough rest time. The players return:
✔️March 23rd– Pedri, Olmo, Ferran, Lamine, Kounde, Frenkie
✔️March 24th– Lewandowski
✔️March 25th– Araujo, Martin, Fort, Torre, Fermin
✔️March 26th-Raphinha
The match will be played on the 27th, this seems quite unfair. The season is already on the crunch stage and Barcelona are competing in all competitions. If Barcelona do not have their players fit, the season will be more difficult. Another reason is injuries at this time of season matter. Players need proper rest time after the international break because travelling plays a major role.
Barcelona’s Raphinha will feature in Brazil v Argentina on the night between the 25th and 26th, while Araujo will play for Uruguay against Bolivia on March 25th, putting both players in doubt. Barcelona have already dealt with serious injuries over international breaks in previous seasons, this brings a proper risk factor to players and the club’s future performances. Barcelona should appeal and make sure the date is changed.
