Barcelona’s 2024/25 season was highly successful, and it’s time to enjoy the awards. Hansi Flick’s side has shown some fantastic avenues of evolution this season, and now the latest La Liga awards speak volumes about the progress. Yamal’s remarkable rise, Raphinha’s clutch performances, and boss Hansi Flick’s tactics have all played a crucial role in the Catalans’ success. That is why they have swept all La Liga awards this season. Here’s why this matters a lot.
Hansi Flick’s Fantastic Debut Season with Barcelona
Hansi Flick’s appointment as Barcelona coach was exciting for every Barca fan. And the German certainly did not fall short of all those expectations. The manager has done some groundbreaking work for the Barca team on and off the pitch. Young players have evolved, frustrated stars have risen back to their best, and the mentality shift has been surreal.
In just one season, Barca became the best attacking force in Europe. The Catalans scored 102 La Liga goals and won the title, coming back from 3rd spot. Flick has modernized the Barcelona philosophy with his high pressing, vertical football, and winning mindset. And the best part of this Barca transformation is that the Blaugrana are once again very entertaining to watch—no more boring back-passing games. Flick has renewed his contract until 2027, and this is excellent news for all fans.
Raphinha Beats Mbappe to Win La Liga Player of The Season
Mbappe might have won the European Golden Boot, but Raphinha won the league. That’s the story here. Real Madrid’s Frenchman stat-padded in a trophyless Real Madrid campaign, and Los Blancos fans still hyped him up for the Player of the Season award. However, justice was surprisingly served by La Liga, as Barca’s Brazilian workhorse was rightly named La Liga 2024/25 Player of the Season.
The winger delivered 18 goals and 9 assists, all of which were highly influential. Although his UCL snub was criminal, thankfully, La Liga got it right. Raphinha has been a relentless presser, backtracker, and clutch player in Barca’s title charge. This award is a big win for substance over style and flair.
Yamal’s U23 Award is not even a Surprise
Lamine Yamal is the third Barca player to win the La Liga end-of-season awards, and the youngster won the under-23 player of the season trophy. It’s a prize given to the best young player throughout the season, but let’s be real: the kid outgrew the ‘young talent’ label months ago.
Yamal has nine goals (all clutch), league-leading 13 assists, and game-winning performances in big games. The gap between him and other under-23 players is immensely high. The fact that he’s still eligible for this award till 2030 is also mindblowing. Also, he is highly rated to win the Ballon d’Or Award, and if he wins it, this ‘promising youngster’ tag will be removed forever from the La Masia wonder boy.
Clean Sweep in Awards Podium: What’s Next?
Barca has swept the award podium by winning the manager, player, and U23 player of the season awards. Meanwhile, Madrid’s Galacticos have ended the season empty-handed—hats off to Flick’s fantastic performance. However, there is still work to be done.
Real Madrid has acquired a new, talented manager in Xabi Alonso, and Barcelona needs to continue improving. Our adversaries have also acquired some exceptional talent from the market, and we still rely heavily on our existing talent. It’s time to strengthen our defense, increase our efficiency, and be consistent. Visca Barca, Visca Catalunya!
