Best XI Without Balde & Lewandowski: Flick’s 3-4-3 False Nine Solution?

Hansi Flick has his two major players, Balde and Lewandowski, sidelined at the most important stage of the season. The German now must reinvent Barca’s approach for the final 10 games. Tactical flexibility will be key. Could he go with a 3-4-3 shape, continue his Olmo experiment, and cause the Gavi-Fermin chaos in midfield? Let’s talk.

Flick’s Best Bet Could be a Change in Formation

Barcelona’s dynamic left-back, Alex Balde, has been instrumental this season. Now that he is injured, Flick is forced to use Gerard Martin, who is not even near Balde. However, an interesting tactical reshuffle can be made. A back three center backs (Inigo, Cubarsi, Kounde) might be a great answer. It would add defensive security and compensate for the lack of a natural left-back.

Kounde, however, might have to be a bit less adventurous on the right. But that’s not a problem because the defense will be stabilized more. Opponents like Inter and PSG thrive on counterattacks, and a back three could neutralize that threat.

False-Nine Olmo Over Ferran Torres

Another interesting option for Flick could be to carry on with his Dani Olmo as a false-nine experiment. Now that Lewandowski is out for three weeks, Flick has to fill the void. Olmo as a false nine could unlock stubborn defenses more effectively. This is because he has close control, quick feet and can also drop deep to disrupt defenders.

The link-up play he has with midfielders is amazing, and it creates pockets of spaces for Yamal and Raphinha to feast upon. Ferran Torres can also be used and his brilliant off-the-bench form must be utilized by Flick. However, if the German wants control and creativity, false-nine Olmo is the better choice.

Gavi & Fermin: The Perfect Duo to Break Down Low Blocks Like Inter

With this 3-4-3 formation, Flick can deploy four midfielders. As Pedri and de Jong are untouchable, they can feature with both Fermin and Gavi. These can be Barca’s chaos agents. They can attack spaces, press relentlessly and disrupt defences. Its exactly whats needed against Inter Milan’s compact defensive setup.

Gavi’s aggression and Fermin’s late runs will add an element of directness. Pedri and de Jong will dictate the tempo, but Gavi and Fermin, they will stretch play vertically. The Inter Milan discipline will be disrupted this way and it could create so much space for wingers to exploit.

What do you guys think? Should Flick deploy such a setup and use Dani Olmo as false nine? Let us know below.
