Change of Plans?

Yesterday Iñigo Martínez was forced off the pitch suffering an injury in the 30th minute of the game, Araújo was the one who replaced him and showcased a spectacular performance at defense. After the game tests from Iñigo’s injury suggest that he will be sidelined for 5-6 weeks. Reports indicate the defender suffered a tear in the femoral biceps of his right leg.

This news could be the turning point for Araújo’s transfer, as the Uruguayan had doubts regarding his spot in the starting XI, he will get a fair opportunity to prove himself back and pair up with Cubarsí in the near future. Every Barcelona fan and player knows how important he is to our club and wants him to stay and create his legacy at the club. After the Super Cup win, Lewandowski expressed how he wants the defender to stay at the club.

Ronald Araújo has had a hard time at Barcelona suffering from injuries. Araújo has missed over 80 games for club and country from 2019/20 onwards.

During Araújo’s absence, Barcelona started their games with Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez. Both of them proved themselves and secured a solid spot in the starting XI. With Araújo returning from his injury, he is having a hard time securing his spot in the starting XI. This is one of the reasons why he considered the move.

Flick’s Stance on Araújo

Despite rumors about Araújo’s links with other clubs, Flick made it clear on Saturday stating: “I want him in my team because he’s one of the best defenders.” Flick surely wants the defender to stay at the club as he regards him as one of the most important players in the squad.

Araújo made his comeback against Barbastro in the Copa Del Rey, where he had a strong performance. He replaced Iñigo Martínez in the Super Cup final after the Spaniard had to be taken off due to injury. In my opinion, this is the perfect opportunity for Araújo to prove himself at solidify his spot on the defense. We all know about his physicality and game presence and he could be a starter at the club again.
