In an interview with Diario Sport, Barca’s sporting director Deco discussed Eric Garcia‘s current situation at the club and if he will be offered a contract to extend his time at Barca
Deco: “Eric is a player who improved a lot last season with Girona. The Eric that clubs want today is not the Eric who left Barcelona a year ago.He is a more mature and confident player, and he is also an Olympic champion. He is 23 years old and is now reaching maturity. He still has one year left on his contract with us and our relationship with his agent is very good.”
Deco on Eric Garcia’s potential contract extension: “I think we have to be patient. During the season, there are times when a player feels appreciated and others when he is not. He is doing well at the moment, but we do not know if he will continue.I think he will stay because he has the potential to reach a great level, but he must also show a desire to stay at Barcelona. When that happens, he will be a player we will want to keep, but I do not think the time is right yet.”
