The Rest Period

Barcelona players will receive a short rest time because they had to play Osasuna in their last game. The game against Osasuna was a postponed game which was set to happen on 8th March. However, due to an unfortunate event, La Liga decided to shift the game to the 27th. This date was already a dilemma as many of Barcelona’s first-team players recently returned from international duties.

The Importance

As the season is in the final crunch, every game is key for Barcelona. Barcelona were 3rd in La Liga a few match-days ago, they showed discipline and consistency and are now on top of the bale with a 3-point lead. Barcelona cannot afford to give points in any game if they want to win the league. This game is of immense importance and Barcelona need to deliver.

Expected Lineups

Barcelona’s possible starting lineup: Szczesny; Kounde, Araujo, Eric, Martin/Balde; Fermin, Pedri; Ferran, Gavi, Raphinha; Lewandowski

Girona’s possible starting lineup: Gazzaniga; A Martinez, Blind, Krejci, Gutierrez; Herrera, Romeu, Arthur; Tsygankov, Stuani, Danjuma

Many of the reports have indicated that Flick will rotate the squad in this game to give rest to some key players. In Frenkie’s case, he has discomfort in the adductor region so he might start from the bench.

What to Expect?

The last meeting with Girona ended in a 4-1 win away from home, with a key performance from Lamine Yamal. This time we could expect more or less a similar result, Girona have been poor this season sitting at 13th place. Barcelona being in good form could take advantage with an early goal. In my opinion, Barcelona will win this game 3-0.
