Barcelona have suffered another rejection from La Liga after their appeal to register the new signings, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. La Liga announced that the club failed to submit any valid documentation to register players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.
FC Barcelona’s official Statement
Barcelona have published an official statement regarding the situation on their website, which states:
FC Barcelona informs that it has applied for a new license for the players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
Club would like to deny having requested or receiving any moratorium to any governing body for these inscriptions.
Barcelona’s Efforts to Secure Their Stars
A few days ago, FC Barcelona filed lawsuits in various Spanish courts to seek approval to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, but they received negative responses. Barcelona claimed that they have the right to register both, as La Liga previously refused to allow Barcelona to use more of the salary cap, which was allocated for the registration of Wojciech Szczesny.
Following the rejection of the first appeal, Joan Laporta’s team used a legal argument that if La Liga blocks these registrations, it would violate the players’ right to work. This similar argument was stated in a similar situation when Gavi’s registration was pending. This also failed, and Barcelona had to look for other options
What happened to Plan B?
Faced with consecutive setbacks, the club decided to advance the negotiations for the VIP boxes deal. The deal was to transfer the VIP box commercialization for the future Camp Nou to investors from the Middle East, potentially generating up to €100 million.
This was to be done, and the deadline was 31st December; this deal is yet to be finalized for completion of the registration process.
What’s Next?
Following the situation, Barcelona has been given a relief of deadline, extending it to 2nd January.
To finalize the proceedings, Joan Laporta has requested a new license from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for both players. Once granted, they could proceed with the transfer of the VIP box.
