Flick says Ansu Fati has to give his 100% to get a chance

Ansu Fati has suffered from a lack of playing minutes under Hansi Flick this season. Apart from some minutes in the Copa del Rey, the 22-year-old has not been given a chance by the German manager. The youngster and his family are frustrated by the situation and think he deserves more minutes and a chance to prove he belongs at Barca.

When asked about the situation, Flick had a really direct answer. Flick: “Ansu Fati? I know the situation. Each player has to give his 100% every day, every week, to give and show us, the coaches and everyone else, that they deserve to play. That’s the job the players have to do. And that’s all I have to say about that.” This shows that the German manager will not give minutes unless a player absolutely earns them.

Should Ansu Fati leave?

Ansu Fati has been trying to revive his career at Barca for quite some time now. The Spanish forward, despite all advise from his agent and club has refused to move away from Barca. Ansu’s dream is to succeed at Barcelona, and he aims to stay at least till the end of the season. In recent reports, it was revealed that Besikitas tried to sign Ansu Fati as the Turkish club’s president, revealed: “Ansu Fati was on our radar, just like Patrick Berg and Samuel Dahl. After the Europa League match against Twente, my intention was to bring Fati to Istanbul. We had even reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer. However, the night we were eliminated, we were informed that he would no longer be coming. The player was very excited—we had already spoken to his father. But our elimination from European competition ruined the deals.”

Is Flick too harsh on Ansu?

Hansi Flick has not had too many moments this season where he can give a bench player a chance and take the risk. Most of the matches throughout the season have been of immense importance and must-win situations. However, I do think Flick could bring in Ansu in games where Barça has established a comfortable lead. An example is the game against Valencia, where points were not at stake after Barça went 3 goals up. Similar games in the league where Barça gets a comfortable lead, Flick can have a chance to bring on the youngster. Ansu Fati can also get a lot of playing time if Barça wins the league early. The remaining matches will not have too much at stake, and Ansu will not have a lot of pressure to perform every time. One thing is for certain, the youngster will have to prove himself whenever he gets a chance. To play for Barcelona, you have to be world-class week in week out. Ansu Fati can certainly fit that category if he manages to return to his old form.
