Hansi Flick discussed Raphinha’s Ballon d’Or chances and his planning for the game in the press conference ahead of tomorrow’s RO16 2nd leg against Benfica.
Raphinha for Ballon D’Or?
Flick: “Yes, he is a candidate. Raphinha has a hunger and attacking style that is clear to see. It’s fantastic to watch him play. I’m happy to have him here and performing at this level.”
“The team has handled the situation well. We are focused on the match, knowing that Benfica is a very strong team and it will be a tough challenge.”
Flick: “Carles was a great person and an excellent doctor… He was a key part of our success, and we will miss him. The team wants to play for him, and that’s why tomorrow’s victory is so important to us.”
Flick: “Lewandowski is available to play tomorrow. On Saturday, he felt something during the activation session, but now he’s fine.”
Flick: “I see the team very focused; I noticed it in this morning’s meeting. There isn’t a single player who thinks the tie is already won.”
Flick: “Szczesny? He is a mature, experienced, and calm goalkeeper. His personality is a great asset to us… He’s doing an excellent job.”
Flick: “Benfica have won many games away from home. We need to be cautious about that. Tomorrow, we will press high and try to be well-positioned on the pitch… that will be very important.”
