Have Barcelona found their New MSN?

Over the years Barcelona has been blessed with amazing attacking trios. Examples of these attacking trios are Messi, Villa, Pedro (MVP), Messi, Eto’o, Henry, Messi, Suárez, and Neymar (MSN). Many years after the MSN, it seems like Barcelona has a new trio that will make a name for themselves for the next generations to come.

LRY: Lewandowski, RAphinha, Yamal

The Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Yamal trio is the next big thing for Barcelona. This attacking trio has been lethal this season. This trio is a blend of youth, present, and experience, with Lewandowski bringing the experienced factor to the squad, Raphinha being the present, and Lamine bringing the youth energy.

This season, this trio is in blistering form being the most dangerous trio across Europe. Lewandowski has contributed with 31 goals and assists in 29 games, Raphinha has 33 goals and assists in 30 games, and Lamine Yamal has 21 goals and assists in 26 games.

This trio has already contributed to over 80 goals and assists this season. The only silverware they managed to win this season is the Spanish Super Cup, they have been phenomenal in the Champions League with great individual stats and being 2nd in the Champions League Table. Lewandowski is leading the race to be the top scorer in La Liga and the Champions League.

MSN: Messi, Suarez, Neymar

Despite LRY being one of the most lethal trios this season, MSN was crazy. The chemistry these three had was unmatched on and off the field. The whole football world loved their fun banter on and off the field. An example of a moment between these three was when Messi assisted Suarez on that penalty. Another iconic incident is when Suarez teased Neymar by kicking the ball away when Neymar was tying his laces.

This trio was called “The Golden Trio”. They had phenomenal individual stats which showcased their quality. In the 409 games that MSN played together, they have scored 344 goals and 157 assists. These stats define football royalty, this trio comes once in a lifetime and we were extremely lucky to witness their performances together.

With this attacking trio performing together Barcelona won the treble in 2014/15, securing La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Champions League glory in a single season. Later they won another La Liga title and two more Spanish cups.

Should they be compared?

In my opinion, it is too early to compare both the trios. MSN not only achieved individual success but team success as well. MSN was a household name in the football world, dominating the whole of Europe. Whenever other teams had to play against Barcelona they had to prepare for the front three only. The LRY trio are playing together in their first season and need more time together to build a proper relationship like MSN. What do you guys think? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
