Nobody Believed in Him – Now He’s Rewriting Barca’s Future

What a redemption arc it has been for Ferran Torres. The ex-Manchester City forward was literally on the verge of leaving Barcelona, but suddenly, things have drastically changed for the player. He has stepped up for Barca this season, whether from the bench or to fill the injured Lewandowski’s spot. Let’s dig into this amazing turn of the tables for Ferran.

The Rebirth of a Player That Exposes Barcelona’s Fickle Fan Culture

You’ve read it right. Most Barca fans are really fickle with loyalty to their players. Frenkie de Jong, Lewandowski, Raphinha and now Ferran. All of these players have been loved and hated by Barca fans. After his shaky first three seasons at Barca, Ferran was mentioned as a €55m flop. And yet, here’s the irony. The same fans now chant his name after his 19 goals and four assists.

Torres’ sudden rise in performances has revealed Barcelona’s toxic cycle of instant judgment of a player. Fans, social media, and even some journalists are ready to hype or judge players very early. They do not even give players time to settle down; eventually, the player crumbles under pressure.

Ferran’s Redemption Proves Barcelona Don’t Need a Superstar Savior

Barcelona, throughout, this season have been eyeing a star forward. The Catalans have been interested in a number of players as the heir to Lewandowski, but this has blinder them from their own locker room. Throughout the Nico Williams and Luis Diaz headlines, Ferran has quietly become a brilliant, reliable forward.

Torres now has 44 goals and 19 assists with Barca.

The 16 goals in 2025, crucial hattrick in a key Copa del Rey contest, and 11 post January speak volumes of his comeback. Barca is reportedly not going to sign a forward coming season, and credit goes to Ferran. He has forced Deco and company to abandon their striker hunting plans. Ferran might be the next big thing for Barca.

Is Ferran Torres a True Number 9?

When Lewandowski got injured last month, culers reckoned it as a massive crisis. The Polish striker is Barca’s top scorer with 40 goals this season, and things looked grim. Barca was on the verge of season defining games. Instead, Ferran stepped up big time.

The Spanish forward scored against Real Madrid, Inter and played his heart out in all big games. However, is Ferran a true number 9? Maybe he might not be physically perfect to be a spear head. He is more of a quick second striker who can score in tight spaces and make in-behind runs. Ferran brings something unique to the table, and it’s really worth it for the Blaugrana.

Ferran Torres Should Stay at Barcelona

After a rocky start, Ferran has finally found rythym in the Catalan jersey. He has performed at the biggest stages, scored goals and played with passion for the badge. The 25-year-old is young, intelligent and talented; and will continue to grow. I highly believe he can contribute a lot more to the team than this season.

Therefore, the number 7 should stay at Barca. I think he will get a lot more chances coming season and can be more than just an off-the-bench hero for Barca. Let’s believe in the youngster and, ofcourse, Hansi Flick.
