Barcelona secured the transfer of Pau Víctor from Girona this summer after he impressed on loan to Barça Athletic in 2023/24 season.
The Spaniard was called upon the first team by Hansi Flick this season and was one of the standout performers during Barcelona’s US Tour pre-season. However, as the season progressed it became difficult for the 23-year-old to get minutes in the first division, with the likes of Raphinia, Lewandowski, Lamine, and Ferran being ahead of him.
The Registration Saga
There is growing concern about Pau Víctor’s registration, which will be expired at the end of December and well before the start of the January transfer window. This issue has placed Barcelona in a difficult position, as the club is not only grappling on Pau Víctor’s situation but also facing similar issues with Dani Olmo’s registeration.
Both players brought this summer to strengthen the squad, are at the risk of being lost due to the club’s financial constraints and La Liga’s FFP rulings. The ongoing situation has pressurized Barcelona to look for solutions. Losing two key signings within a period of months would be a significant blow to the club’s plans and reputation, further highlighting Barcelona’s ongoing struggles.
Do Real Betis Hold the Key to Solve Pau Víctor’s registeration issuue?
Aware of the situation, La Liga side Real Betis have shown their interest to sign the 23-year-old forward. Betis have shown signs of getting Pau Víctor on loan at the club.
Despite, Pau Víctor not playing regular minutes for Barcelona, he has shown discipline and commitment to the club. Manager and fans are very pleased, with him contributing 2 goals and 1 assist playing just 187 minutes this season.
Betis highly appreciate the quality Víctor brings to the field and promise him minutes if he joins them. On the other hand, Barcelona do not want to let him go and would only consider his transfer if the player insisted on leaving, a possibility that is very unlikely.
Is this a viable move ?
In my opinion, this could be a viable option to Barcelona’s ongoing issues. However, if Barça can turn the situation and retain both Olmo and Pau, it would be cherry on top.
I personally view Pau as a promising asset to Barcelona’s attack. I would like him to stay at the club and find opportunities to earn minutes on the field. But if the circumstances force the club to loan him out, it could be seen as a beneficial move for his personal growth as a forward.
This move could help him get minutes and gain experience of the First Division, and he might return back to Barça with greater confidence and sharp edge to his game.
