The world-class season of Ferran Torres comes to an end

Ferran Torres has suffered from an appendicitis injury that will keep him out of action for the rest of the season. The shark’s season might be over, but what a season he has had under Hansi Flick, outperforming his previous years at Barcelona. Ferran Torres had just finished the last ClĂĄsico of the season, where he bagged a hat-trick of assists. The Spanish forward is looking to recover for pre-season with the squad, as he will miss the remainder of this season. Ferran Torres’s season under Hansi Flick was proof of his determination and hard work.

The consistent form in El ClĂĄsicos this season

Ferran Torres was a nightmare for Los Blancos this season, causing them trouble every time his team meets the rivals. The most recent episode of El ClĂĄsico at Montjuic, featuring Ferran as a striker, ended in a 4-3 win for the home side. The Spanish forward provided 3 assists to complete Barça’s remontada in the first half of the game. In the Copa de Rey final, it was Ferran Torres who initiated Barcelona’s remontada with his goal after an unreal assist from Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona’s super sub

Ferran Torres was not a regular starter in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona this season. However, he was an equally important player, especially whenever Barça needed goals to make a comeback. He came on against AtlĂ©tico Madrid when La Blaugrana were 2-0 behind. Ferran then went on to score the equaliser after Lewandowski had made it 2-1 with an athletic finish. The shark went on to score another goal after Lamine Yamal’s winner to make it 3-2. Every time Barcelona looked like they might be losing the game by being a goal or two down, Hansi Flick brought on Ferran Torres, and he always delivered.

Ferran’s future at Barcelona

Barcelona are planning to bring on a striker for next season or the season after it, considering Robert Lewandowski’s age. The Polish striker will eventually have to step down as Barça’s number 9 and a new striker will take his place. Several names like Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, and Vicktor Gyokeres are under observation. However, in my opinion, Ferran Torres has the potential to be Barcelona’s striker. The Spanish forward has scored 19 goals for Barcelona this season and averaged 0.82 goals per 90 in La Liga. To put things into context, Robert Lewandowski has averaged 0.86 goals in La Liga this season. It might be better to bring in a world-class striker, but Ferran Torres will remain a key player for Barcelona for many years to come.
