Toni Frieros Says ‘NO, NO, and Absolutely NOT!’ – Should Neymar Really Return to Barcelona?

The rumors of Neymar Jr.’s potential return to Barca next season have been getting mixed opinions among fans. While many fans have started dreaming of Neymar’s magical flair to return at the newly renovated Camp Nou, Sport’s Toni Frieros thinks otherwise. Let’s dive into the debate.

Neymar’s Return: What Could It Mean?

The idea of Neymar returning to Barca has received mixed opinions. Some fans remember the magic he brought to the pitch alongside Leo and Suarez, forming one of the most lethal tridents in football history. But, the reality of his potential return is far more complicated.

The way Neymar left Barca in 2017 was too controversial and hugely perceived as a betrayal. Also, his current footballing level is far from what he used to be at Barca. More importantly, does his return align with Hansi Flick’s current project at Barca? These factors make us realize that Neymar’s potential return to Barcelona seems more of a misfit than a missing puzzle piece.

Can Barcelona Fans Ever Forgive Neymar?

Recently Toni Frieros of Sport was asked about the possibility of Neymar joining Barcelona back and his answer was too blunt:

“Neymar? NO, NO and absolutely NOT !”

It seems like fans cannot still forgive Neymar for how he made a bitter exit in the face of millions of culers. The PSG transfer felt more of a betrayal and Toni Frieros’ emotional words reflect that betrayal. While Fabrizio Romano has repeatedly disclosed rumours about Neymar’s intentions to return to Barca, it seems the emotional scars run too deep, and for many, the answer is a resounding no.

Shirt Sales vs. Squad: Is Neymar Worth the Risk?

There’s no denying the commercial appeal of Neymar Junior is huge. The financial aspect of Barcelona will get a big boost as he could boost shirt sales, attract sponsors and bring in revenue. An argument can be made that Neymar could bring such monetary benefits with him as he joins Barca, but still I think this to be a red flag.

Football is not just a business, and the message this move could send to the rest of squad is bad. Also, Neymar’s lifestyle and attitude could be a bad example for Barca youngsters and it’s not worth the risk.

Neymar Junior’s return to Barcelona could be a short-term gain, but it might come with long term consequences too. As Barca builds a team for the future, Neymar’s homecoming could become a disastor that Barca cannot afford to gamble just for the sake of nostalgia.
