“We have something pending which is the Champions League”

Barcelona’s captain Ronald Araújo was on the verge of leaving the club for Juventus. The major reason surrounding this transfer was Barcelona benching the Uruguayan as they found themselves with a new defending duo of Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez during Araújo‘s recovery period from injury.

Ronald Araújo’s departure took a U-turn after Barcelona’s sporting director Deco got involved. Deco asked Araújo about the contract terms he discussed with Juventus. Deco convinced Araújo by highlighting the immediate effect of his departure. He also expressed the success this season including their Spanish Super Cup victory and impressive European form.
