When Lamine Yamal Broke Messi’s Record

Lamine Yamal has been for a while, considered the heir to Messi’s throne at Barca and in the football world. The 17-year-old has been sensational for Barca and Spain, tearing up defenses all across Europe.

Leo Messi’s record

Back in the days Leo Messi was La Masia’s starboy just like Lamine Yamal. When Messi was 18 years old he faced Mallorca in a La Liga match in 2007. The youngster attempted 20 dribbles in that match, out of which he completed 10. This was a new record in La Liga for the most dribbles in a La Liga game by an FC Barcelona player.

Lamine Yamal’s new record

Lamine Yamal has been world-class for Barca ever since he made his debut. However, at just 17 years old, Lamine has shattered Messi’s record for the most dribbles in a match by a Barca player. Lamine Yamal attempted 21 dribbles vs Alaves and completed 11 of them. Lamine still has some time left before he turns 18, the age when Messi set the initial record.

Leo Messi is the greatest player of all time not just for Barcelona but for the world. However, one could fairly argue that Lamine Yamal is having a greater impact on the pitch than Messi did at the same age.
