In an interview with France Football Xavi Hernández discussed his exit from Barcelona and his plans to return to coaching.
When asked about his plans for his coaching career, Xavi had high hopes.
“I want to win the Champions League, the Euro and the World Cup as a coach. I am open now… why not coach another La Liga team? I’m really looking for an exciting project”, he told France Football.
Xavi’s time at Barcelona as a manager is very underrated, which will be more and more visible as the time goes on.
“If you look at the record when I was at Barça… it was very positive. Because the club was in one of its worst periods in history”
“Expectations at Barça for me as a coach were very high because of my track record as a player. I was deeply connected to Barcelona…”
“Sometimes that worked against me. Maybe I was too emotional, but this experience was a real lesson for me”
Xavi expressed his admiration for La Masia and its young players that he handed debuts.
“Beyond the titles, I feel very proud that I trusted a new generation like Fermín, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi and Alejandro Balde”.
“They represent the future of the club, I feel proud”
As a Barca fan seeing Xavi succeed in his managerial career will be a very happy sight and perhaps in the future the legend returns to write another fairytale with the club of his life.
